Our Generations Diana Ross, Beyonce Knowles!

Photobucket

I remember the first time I heard Beyonce sing. It was several years ago and at that time she was in the group we all know "Destiny's Child." I must say that although the song was catchy and the girls were fly, I wasn't a fan. Later on the group wen on to create smash hits topping the charts and winning award after award. As their music grew, I felt like I was growing with them.

I've been privileged and I mean that, PRIVILEGED to have met Beyonce several times. I remember once when I was in Hawaii with my family and friend on vacation and while at the pool I got a call from my good friend Choreographer/Dancer Tyrell Washington. He asked me if I wanted to see the show (The Beyonce Experience) in Nashville the next day! Since it was late notice and poor timing, I PACKED MY MOTHERFUCKING BAGS AND HIT IT TO NASHVILLE, TENNESEE!

My family was immediately shocked that I was flying all 4 of us out there, but hell, wouldn't you?! I stopped at the airport in Honolulu and bought her a lay (those flowers you put around your neck). They were real pretty too like a purplish and white. Anyhow, we got drunk on the plane and arrived that morning. After a shopping spree we went to the show and afterwards, there she was! Although I didn't get to talk to her this time, she allowed only my little brother who wasn't a Beyonce believer to go and she her. When he came back he was mezmorized by her natural beauty.

There are many more Beyonce stories that I have but I'll save those for later. All I can say is that if the saying "you are defined by who you surround yourself with" is true, BEYONCE is the best. Her staff, dancers, and band members that are my friends Ty Hunter, Kim Burse, Tyrell Washington, Divinity, Nikki, Bibi, etc are all amazing people. I mean A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!

I can't wait to see the show this year and if I get backstage again (which I'm hoping I will) I'll try to bring as much exclusive footage as possible. Until then recognize, this is our Diana Ross and we should revel in this experience for as long as we can because when our kids are older they'll be talking about her too!

Upcoming Super Producer, Donnie Scantz!

Photobucket

YOOO. So you may or may not know about my boy Donnie, but if you do you know one thing, he's destined for stardom. Rarely in this business do you meet someone as talented as Donnie, and even moreso humble.

Darnley Scantlebury, known to most as Donnie Scantz, is a music producer, musician and songwriter. He is the founder of State of Emergency, a music and extreme lifestyle allegiance dedicated to producing R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop and Rock. He is a two time Grammy Nominee and has worked with artists such as Aaliyah, Toni Braxton, Usher, Ludacris, J. Holiday, Danity Kane and Chris Brown. Along with his credits he is the cousin of very famous superproducer Brian Michael Cox who has produced hits for almost everyone in the business including Mary J Blige's biggest single, "Be Without You."

I met Donnie interestingly enough at the Skybar several years ago and have always maintained contact. Among producing music, and playing instruments, this man is a wizard of the computer world. He recently taught me some "tricks" with my mac that makes everyone I chat with a victim!

Along with being a talented individual, I've grown to recognize Donnie as a great father who loves his son. I'm sure with his guidance his son will grow up to be as much of a man as his father. Oh, and he's dated some fine ass women!

On BLAST!! Spectacular 'Shakes it' in his panties!

OK OK OK!!! I have received so many calls, emails, twitter messages, facebook messages, and aim's about this damn issue! I personally don't care what his motivation is/was, or his sexuality, hell, I didn't even know who Pretty Ricky was. So on that note, the video probably wanted to gain attention and it did.

Spectacular, a member of the group Pretty Ricky was recently found dancing around and singing to a new song by the group. While I must admit that the song is hot, the little panties were NOT. I've gone to his twitter and found him defending his choice of attire and twirling, as well as his sexuality. Many people are calling him gay, people close to him are telling me he's not - WHO KNOW's. What is evident is that these panties were not meant to be worn on a man PERIOD.

Now for those who says he's gay does Prince not do some of those moves? And child molester R Kelly, what about him? And all these other male groups begging for attention, don't they do it? I will admit, the licking of lips, and enticing "call out" of the other male groups is a bit suspect, I don't know how he's "acting gay." And isn't saying "acting gay" somewhat gay bashing? That's like saying someone is acting black!! OMG, these thoughts, these questions, they just drive me nuts. Well, Spectacular told my girl he would do an interview for my blog so we'll see.

Check the video out and judge for yourself!

On BLAST!! Aubrey O'Day, Singer, Actress, HOE

OMG (while shaking my head) this cheap taudry trick is just too much for me. I know you all know Aubrey from Making the Band or even more from the Playboy layout that she's done this past year. WELL, I just have to weigh in.

More and more I turn on the television and I see images of women and men who feel they need to shake their ass (I'm going in on Spectacular in a minute) or take off all their clothes just to keep their careers alive. Well Aubrey doesn't disappoint us, she continues to be our hoe of the week.

Now I know there are many many Danity Kane fans out there and I must say after meeting D. Woods myself I am a fan of her work, but one thing that comes through in all of D. Woods' and the other girls' pics is charachter. Aubrey clearly lacks any real charachter traits, hell, she rarely even has any clothes.

I have five sisters who are all beautiful and I'll be damn if I see then turn out to be a trick. In fact, one is a doctor, another probation officer, the third an investigator for the D.A.'s office, one a manager for an insurance company, and the last one a housewife. NONE ARE HOES. I know detailed secrets on Ms. Aubrey that I can't reveal because I've been sworn to secrecy, but this picture tells it all.

I wonder what's going to happen once thoese boobs start to leak, her chicken neck starts to fill out, and them ugly puff lips start to deteriorate. I know one thing, I'll be here to blog about it.

Hot 2 DEF to Aubrey: You disgust me!

NOH8 Campaign is GROWING!!!

Photobucket

This week the California Supreme court voted on two matters. The first matter was whether the election results on Prop 8, a proposition that went before voters in California banning gay marriage AND whether or not those gays and lesbians who were married before the right was taken away will remain married or not. I must say that after the Barack Obama election I was surprised to see our state, the most liberal state in the U.S. vote down such an important matter of equality.

After researching a bit on the matter I ran across the NOH8 Campaign which is aimed at bringing awareness to equality for gays and lesbians. While it's easy to get caught up on the details depending on how you were raised, the matter of equality should be clear. It's my belief that ALL PEOPLE covered under a very clear constitution outlining basic rights of equality, AND the separation of church and state should have equal rights. I've seen in the past where churches have rallied around the wrong issue/person (George Bush in the 2004 election) just because of their religious beliefs. Now it's interesting that the church wants you to come in an pay your tithes, but you can't marry your life partner. Hypocrisy. Check out the latest PSA on the NOH8 Campaign below and visit www.noh8campaign.com for more info. I'll be doing my picture next week. If you're in the LA area you should to.

What's HOT: Dolce and Gabanna

When I think of accessories there is no better store in my opinion than D&G at the Beverly Center. The manager, Becky is cool as shit and she always hooks me up. I was looking through their Fall 2008-2009 calendar and ran across a few items that I just HAD to share. Of course the stuff is over-priced, but most things are in this city, including the prostitutes (not that I know personally).

One thing I continually find interesting is that although many many African Americans and Latino's wear this very famous brand, you don't often see many people of color modeling their clothing or accessories. Why do you think that is? I remember once when folks were running about saying Tommy Hilfiger was on the Oprah show saying that he didn't intend to have minorities wearing his clothes. On Oprah?! I couldn't believe that rumor got as much traction as it did. OK, back to fashion. These shoes are SICK SICK SICK! And there is no way to wear those without accessorizing them with a watch and pair of D&G shades. Now yes, you're probably going to spend a couple thousand dollars when you go into this store, and that's ok. If you don't have a couple thousand dollars you shouldn't be reading this blog!

Memorable Memorial Day at the Mondrian's Skybar

WHEW! I am so glad that this holiday is OVER! It's been a long time since I've hung out like this, and while I had a drunken good time, met some fantastic people, I had WAY too much alcohol, fun, and sun. This weekend I hooked up with a long time friend who showed me a great time in Hollywood. While we rarely even left the hotel, I can say we had so much fun. Check out this real short video of the scene on one of the days.

One highlight of the weekend was hanging out with my boy, actor/rapper Zane Copeland b.k.a. Lil Zane. On our way to valet we ran into American Idol host Randy Jackson who was hanging out with Shawn and Wayne from the best male group ever Boyz II Men. While our interaction with them was real brief, they were so cool. We talked about how dope Chrisette Michelle is and how she is doing her thing. In the picture with them you can see Zane and I both had our Mohitos in hand (which only left to exchange Patron shots). My liver is still thanking me for taking a rest and giving up the alcohol.

The Looks of SKYBAR at night!

The bar and pool area of the infamous skybar is just right for the grown and sexy. This weekend I've seen everyone from Ryan Seacrest a few times, to Boyz II Men, Jill Marie Jones (Girlfriends) among other industry elite. While the website says it's open to the public after 8pm, that was NOT the case this weekend. Since my friend rented rooms for a couple weeks they could get me in on their "privilege cards." RIGHT!

Here is a short montage of the various faces of a drunken Jason Lee! Enjoy

American Idol Wrap Party at Hollywood's Skybar!

So last night was sooooo much fun! A good friend of mine who hates for me to say his name is staying at the Mondrian hotel. He asked me if I wanted to go to the American Idol wrap party and of course I said HELL YES!

When I got there I started off with drinks with these two women I had met earlier that day. My boy hooked me up with a Blueberry Fresca which is the most amazing drink ever next to my Wild Berry or Pomegranate Margaritas. So after having some duck and a chicken cesar salad I looked over and there was Spike Lee! We got Spike over and he graciously took pics. I don't know much about basketball but he was not happy about the game with Orlando (he kept mentioning it). Then we looked over and there was Carlos Santana!

Later the party started and we moved inside and went straight for the bar. There were so many idols and so many non-idol idols that I didn't know who was who. I knew Ryan, Paula, and Randy though and they were there looking a like a million dollars. All were mad cool! I saw Adam run in real fast and was swarmed by a ton of people (I not one of them). I also saw the guy who actually won and don't even remember his name. Is it just me or should Adam have won last night! I won't even go there.

Now the old lady hosting the party was a damn wreck. She was running all over the place saying "if you don't have a stamp you can't be here." Did she not know that American Idol is one of the biggest shows on Television and over 100 million people voted. Of course it was going to be crazy!

Ran into Chris Dougherty who was so amazingly nice and Ms. Digarmo (hope I spelled that right). She too was sweet (although there were issues with her getting on the list). Clay Aiken and his boyfriend were a no show as were Fantasia, Jennifer Hudson, and Ruben Studdard. Oh yea, no Kelly Clarkson either. Either way, I had a fab time. Oh, and Paula Abdul is the coolest saying "That is me on twitter and I'm so addicted." I told her that I was too and then people pulled her off.

Lastly, David Hasselhoff was at the party and I called him Michael. No wonder why he refused to take a picture. At least that was his charachters name in Knight Ryder! Enjoy

What's HOT around $100

Paying homage to the Los Angeles Lakers, I've selected The Lakeshow Tee Yellow for $32.00 and The Basics Chino Pant for $64.00. So for $97.00 you can look like this years future NBA champions! Don't hate!

Candy Girls' party at OPERA in Hollywood

OK readers, YES I'm late! As you know I'm a man about town so getting you the latest and greatest may take me some time. BUT when I dish, I dish! On Thursday May 14th me and my crew went to Club Opera in Hollywood to support my girl Echo Hattix's party to unveil a new artist (which is Megan Good's sister).

When we arrived clearly there was a mob of people trying to get in which is very typical for party's in Hollywood. What is NOT typical is the amount of disorganization by party throwers. Typically when people are invited to parties with talent they're taken care of. Not this function. After waiting for an hour in a line with the general public (which was sent to different lines depending on who you talked to) we finally made it in. And guess what? THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ME $20! Clearly that didn't happen but nonetheless, it set a pretty fucked up mood for me.

Now I've partied with Quincy Jones, Queen Latifah, Diana Ross, Will Smith, T.I., and Sidney Poitier to name a few so I just knew I was going to meet Tom (Cruise) and Katy....uh no. I can't lie and say I didn't have a good time because after a couple pomegranate margaritas I started feeling a whole lot better. I immediately ran into my good friends Porscha Coleman (last weeks Candy Corner) and Steph Jones; singer, model, and boyfriend of American Idol Star Jordan Sparks. We had a great time and good conversations (which I was sworn not to share so I won't).

Later ran into the one and only RZA from the infamous Wu-Tang hip hop group and Supermodel and now actress Ms. Eva Pigford and her beau Lance Gross from Tyler Perry's "House of Payne." I have to say, both were sexy together and very very nice to talk to. Lance suprisingly with his fame was enjoying the interaction as much as I was, posed for pictures, and talked about real things. Eva was busy saying her hello's but still remembered to come back and find me for our photo (which by the way is FIERCE).

GOODIES GONE BAD!

NOW (dun da da dun) MEGAN GOOD I have to say was an expected disappointment. I've been in and around Hollywood for several years. I take pride in knowing a lot of real power players, who have worked their way to the top. I've ran into Megan several times (which I'm sure she doesn't remember) and I've always walked away disliking her. Although her friends who are allegedly close to her say she's "a sweet girl" and "she has money" I have to say I have a very different opinion.

SCENE: I'm moving through the party talking to Senior Reps from Harry Winston, Eva, LaLa Vazquez, RZA, and others, and Megan is moving slowly through the party making sure everyone sees her. OK, so reluctantly with my preconceived feelings I move over to Megans area. I work through her entourage (which no one else had) and I say hello and ask for a picture. Consciously I say "I'm going to give her a chance and start over" subconciously I'm saying "FUCK MEGAN GOOD."

SO, after asking for the picture, Megan says "If it's the LAST thing I do I'll take a picture with you." Well, the last thing she'll do is die (cause we all have to) so I already knew that was some bullshit! I patiently waited while she spoke to a few guys (typical) and fixed her shoe, and talked/text on her phone, and fixed the hair that she bought and still, no picture!

I then watched her sister perform with a couple friends of mine professionally providing the audience with background entertainment and eye candy and just didn't get into her. I don't know if it's because she's Megan's sister or just because she wasn't anything special, but either way, I was not entertained to say the least (watch video below). I then said, "I can't wait to blog about Megan." A woman overheard me and said please don't hate on Megan, she's a good girl. She then ran over to grab Megan to tell her to take a picture with me. THE BITCH STILL DIDN'T TAKE A PICTURE!

I went home laughing the whole way because I knew what I was going to write about and what do I find in my inbox? A picture (above) of Megan wearing THE SAME PANTS FROM THE PARTY IN A PICTURE EARLIER IN THE WEEK!!! I have to admit she looked very HOT that night, AND has a beautiful body, but to wear the same clothes in the same week when you know you're going to be photographed is not cute.

I was going to blog about all the guys she's slept with in the industry, and how fake she comes off to people that don't know her, etc but I felt that it was unnecessary to the story of what I experienced. I do have to say that if you're judged on the content of your character Megan Good get's an F. I have to admit I'm a big fan of two projects that she's done 1. Eve's Bayou and 2. MTV Punk'd. Other than that, Megan can keep her face out of my camera and her career on the casting couch!

Rapper Dolla Gunned down in LA!

I choose not to write about every story in the news or on every blog because we're already saturated with enough nonsense. But today's story struck me personally. I've lost a lot of people to unnecessary gunfire and today, music lost yet another rapper to senseless gun violence. Atlanta Rapper "Dolla" was fatally shot today at the Beverly Center in Los Angeles.

Before he was signed to Akon's label and climbed the charts with the hardcore single "Who the Heck Is That," Atlanta rapper Dolla played talent shows and showcases as a member of Da Razkalz Cru. They released the 2003 single "So Fly" on the major-label imprint Elektra, but it went nowhere and the band was dropped from the label that same year. In the end, the best thing that would happen to Dolla as he was hanging with Razkalz was meeting both Akon, who was producing for the label, and Diddy, who would take Dolla under his wing not as a rapper, but as a model. Modeling clothes from Diddy's Sean John label took him around the country and put his image on the huge billboard above the Hyatt Hotel in Los Angeles. He eventually ran into his old friend Akon and after some studio sessions, Dolla was signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik label. In 2006 he landed on the Step Up soundtrack and partnered with mixtape DJ Nappy Wilson for The Beatdown Mixtape. He spent the next year working on his debut album. Early in 2008 the "Who the Heck Is That" single appeared, although the street version replaced "Heck" with the "F bomb." Singers T-Pain and Tay Dizm appeared on the initial cut, while Akon was added to the remix

My brother was killed several years ago as were many friends, and the worlds best two rappers Big and Pac. It's my hope that we make some sense out of such a disappointing ending of this young mans life.

En Vogue is BACK!

I'm so excited to write this post that I don't even know where to start!!! I guess I'll rewind and start when I was a kid living in the worst town in the world, Stockton, CA. All we had there for entertainment was a skating ring, movie theaters, and a mini-golf that had a waterslide. Oh, and the annual San Joaquin County Fair.

I remember towards the end of May the fair would release it's entertainment schedule to much awaited anticipation. I remember calling the hotline and hearing the lineup, boring as usual. And then the guy said En Vogue will be performing.... I hung up the phone! I had to call everyone I knew to tell them about it.

Terry Ellis, Cindy Herron, Maxine Jones, and my girl Ms. Dawn Robinson were the hottest group out at the time, taking crowds by storm with their class and sexy swag. Dawn the standout member of the group with her tight eyes and voluminous body dominated the attention of concert goers.

I remember rushing to the back of the stage to meet this group who had the entire crowd on their feet the ENTIRE show. I seriously doubted I could get back there so I snuck around the gate and the only person who would come and talk to me was Dawn. She was sweet, signed an autograph and talked to me. I felt validated!

FAST FORWARD: Several years later and by way of the industry, Dawn and I have become close friends. I now consider her my sister 'fo life.' I recall a night when Dawn and I talked about her exiting the group, first moving on to Lucy Pearl fame and then her solo career. I have to admit at first I had judgement because of my own selfish desire to see the girls (En Vogue) who started it all get back together. But after 2 hours of deep discussion, I would equate her courage to that of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who in the face of adversity, stood on his moral principles. I plan on interviewing Dawn so we'll get to those details later but I'm so excited to announce that

ALL FOUR ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF EN VOGUE ARE BACK TOGETHER!

Not only are they back together, but they look DAMN GOOD! Now, I know how old they are (which I'm not going to say here because I don't have permission) but they look better than some of our new artists of today (Keri Hilson Dawn SLAYS you).

Recently to kick off their 20 year anniversary tour, En Vogue visited the set of the View and performed a medley of their greatest hits. I've watched this video over and over because no matter how much I watch this, I see so much of what they've given to R&B music (see video below).

En Vogue is coming to a city near you and no matter how old you are, young or older, you must see this show!

Here is the schedule for those of you who are ready to lock in dates now. I will keep eveyone updated on what they are doing, where they are going, and other interesting things involving the Funky Divas!

Tyrese: Take me away (from this song)

My friend Devin (www.twitter.com/ulikeumtall) submitted some new music today and I came across this track that I could NOT fail to mention on my blog. New music released from singer, actor, businessman Tyrese Gibson titled "Take me away" is nothing close to Calgon.

I played the track and immediately thought of a spaceship with bright lights and a large fan, something done many times before. I've met Tyrese several times and in fact work out at the same gym as him (24 hour fitness on De Longpre and Vine b.k.a. Sunset 24). I can't help think of Tyrese a.k.a. "Black Ty's" character when I listened to the track. He is about as wack as the song. Listen to it for yourself and feel free to comment.

Oh, and if you want to see him at the gym go around 5pm during the week, you'll find him upstairs or in the locker room!

Hip Hop & Fashion: The Takeover

For years, African American's have dominated pop-culture in every area. Sports, music, television, and now fashion, WE dominate what the world watches, listens to, and wears.

Kanye West has recently launched his own line of shoes with the internationally known Louis Vuitton, setting the path for many more to 'cross over.' Although I personally don't connect Kanye to Louis Vuitton, I guess he does create a buzz when it comes to all things hot. You can wear them too for a little over $900.

Today I chatted real brief with on Twitter with "American Boy" singer Estelle who notified the internet world of her the new Dolce and Gabanna Bag titled, Red Estelle Bag. Estelle's music is about as hot as this red leather patent leather tote. Dolce and Gabanna has always been my choice of a good accessorie, shoe, or sunglass. The clothes are hot too if you're a european size 0 (and I ain't nowhere near that). I definitely think that all black folks who can afford fine clothing and accessories should rush out and buy them. Rappers and singers aren't the only people who can wear these materials, they just insipire and open the door for all of us to rock what's hot! Big ups to both Estelle and Kanye West. Oh, and you can buy the bag for around $840.
