Michael Jackson: The day the world stood STILL!

It would have taken too much space so I did a video to capture my reaction to the passing of Michael Jackson. Words can not express the loss this world felt last week, nor could I write what hasn't already been written. But I wanted to share MY Michael Jackson moment and I hope you enjoy the video.

Teena is BACK!

After more than 30 years in the game, Ms. Teena Marie is BACK! I am pleased to say that I got to hang out at R&B Live with the one and only, Teena Marie!

When I arrived at Cinespace I quickly ran upstairs hoping to get a good seat. Well, I didn't run, but I walked damn fast. To my amazement the same venue that was scarcely filled last week when Kenny Lattimore performed was packed to capacity. I walked through the club and quickly ran into my friend Comedienne/Actress Kym Whitley. I noticably heard the sounds of Teena coming thru the loud speakers. Her new album, 'Congo Square' was playing and it was FIRE! And that's when I heard my favorite singer Faith Evans belt out melodies to their duet "Can't Last a Day." Not only was Teena bringing her own fire, she brought out another real singer!

Then we endured the warm up acts or as some would have called, bad karaoke performers while they did their thing. It was then time for the woman we all came to see to hit the stage and do what she does best, peform! Listening to Teena was like drinking fresh clean water! She hit every note, and moved about the stage with the presence I seen years ago on Soul Train. I went out and immediately bought the CD and I highly recommend that everyone pick up a copy so we can continue supporting real music! We love you Teena!

Hip Hop & Fashion: The Takeover

For years, African American's have dominated pop-culture in every area. Sports, music, television, and now fashion, WE dominate what the world watches, listens to, and wears.

Kanye West has recently launched his own line of shoes with the internationally known Louis Vuitton, setting the path for many more to 'cross over.' Although I personally don't connect Kanye to Louis Vuitton, I guess he does create a buzz when it comes to all things hot. You can wear them too for a little over $900.


Today I chatted real brief with on Twitter with "American Boy" singer Estelle who notified the internet world of her the new Dolce and Gabanna Bag titled, Red Estelle Bag. Estelle's music is about as hot as this red leather patent leather tote. Dolce and Gabanna has always been my choice of a good accessorie, shoe, or sunglass. The clothes are hot too if you're a european size 0 (and I ain't nowhere near that). I definitely think that all black folks who can afford fine clothing and accessories should rush out and buy them. Rappers and singers aren't the only people who can wear these materials, they just insipire and open the door for all of us to rock what's hot! Big ups to both Estelle and Kanye West. Oh, and you can buy the bag for around $840.

ARTIST OF THE WEEK!

So I was on twitter this morning (www.twitter.com/hot2definc) chatting with a couple of friends and we began to talk about music. Now, many of you know, recently Keri Hilson has gotten on my damn nerves with her attacks against Beyonce, but this is not about her. Chrisette Michelle is the Hot 2 DEF ARTIST OF THE WEEK!

As I perused her music online, and got into her soulful sound, Chrisette promises the return of soul music. I had to post the youtube video below just so you can see what I mean. Originally, she gave me Erykah Badu and Alicia Keys with the piano, but all around, she's definately going to be a force to reckon with. Now if Keri goes after Chrisette I say we just CHOP that hoe down. Enjoy!
